Elle Decor” has conducted an exclusive interview with Elena Gual, one of the artists represented by Arma Gallery. In this interview, the trajectory of this figurative painter from Mallorca is highlighted, known for her exquisite portraits of women created with a palette knife. Elena discovered her passion for painting after seeing Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” which led her to pursue this form of artistic expression. After training in various locations around the world, including the Academy of Art in Florence and Central Saint Martins in London, she returned to Mallorca, where she established her studio. An allergy to turpentine led her to use the palette knife technique instead of conventional brushes, thus developing her own unique style. Her works, characterized by thick, textured strokes, capture the essence and emotionality of the women she paints, many of whom she encountered during her travels in Asia and Africa. At 29, Elena has already built a solid career and has exciting projects ahead, such as painting groups of people around the world and launching her fashion accessories and prints line called Spatula. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in cities such as New York, London, Madrid, and Mallorca.
