Europa Press highlights Elena Gual’s meditation on silence and intimacy in her new show at Arma Gallery
In its article titled “Elena Gual brings a reflection on silence, intimacy, and the body to Arma Gallery in ‘Is Anybody at Home?’”, Europa Press reports on the artist’s exhibition at Arma Gallery from May 21 to June 4, 2025. The show gathers around twenty works made with a palette knife, in which Gual explores themes such as silence, intimacy, and the body. The title of the show, Is Anybody at Home?, refers to the question posed by Laurie Anderson in her work O Superman (1981). According to Arma Gallery’s director Arena Martínez, the exhibition invites viewers to pause and inhabit silence, keeping the conceptual core intact after its London presentation as Silent Game. Gual describes her work as a “refuge” shaped by a deeply material visual poetics, where lips—isolated and suspended on the canvas—become symbols of the unsaid.
