Agus Díaz Vázquez (El Cerro de Andévalo, Huelva, 1987)
The painting of Agus Díaz Vázquez inhabits a symbolic territory where the ancestral and the contemporary engage in dialogue through stillness. His work, deeply rooted in the South as a state of mind rather than a geography, explores the connections between memory, nature, and myth. In his scenes, time seems to suspend itself, giving way to a cyclical narrative in which symbols such as the moon, the horse, and feminine energy act as guides toward an origin that is also a destination.
A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, Díaz Vázquez has held solo exhibitions at the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia (Granada), Di Gallery (Seville), and Espacio 0 (Huelva). He has also participated in group exhibitions at spaces such as Tabacalera (Madrid), CAC Málaga, the Provincial Museum of Jaén, the Royal Hospital of Granada, the Capelouzos Family Art Museum (Athens), and Eisfabrik (Hannover).
His work has been featured in art fairs such as ESTAMPA (2022) and Urvanity (2024), and has received recognition including the Ateneo de Granada and Fundación Unicaja Award (2023) and the Manuel Ángeles Ortiz Award (2024). In 2024, he was also granted the Daniel Vázquez Díaz Production Grant by the Diputación de Huelva.
