JIRI HAUSCHKA

Czech Republic, 1965

BIOGRAPHY

Czech artist and member of the Stuckist movement, an international art movement. Born in Šumperk, he now resides in Prague. He received classical art training, and his work stands at the intersection of abstraction and figuration. His pieces are held in the National Gallery in Prague and numerous private collections.

Initially, his work was distinguished by an abstract style. His artistic development was significantly influenced by his time in the United Kingdom in 2005, where he met Charles Thomson, the founder of Stuckism. It was during this period that Hauschka moved away from strictly abstract art, focusing on detail and his distinctive black linework, reminiscent of pencil drawing. Upon returning from the UK, he gravitated toward a more realist approach, creating a balance between abstraction and magical realism. His themes draw from personal experience and perception (two worlds: the deep inner and the specific outer) that flow freely through his work.

His landscape paintings often reflect a fascination with the magic and mystique of the forest, evoking an almost somber atmosphere with mist-laden woods.
