Interviewer: Hello Elena! It’s an honor to have you here to talk about your work and your upcoming exhibition “Metamorfosis”. Tell us, how would you define your artistic style in a few words?
Elena Gual: Hello! I would describe my work as figuration where color and texture take the spotlight, leading viewers on an emotional journey through my pieces.
Interviewer: That sounds truly intriguing. We’ve heard a lot about your use of the palette knife in your works. Could you explain how this technique emerged and what it means to you?
Elena Gual: Certainly. The discovery of the palette knife as a tool was a somewhat serendipitous joy. I had an allergic reaction to turpentine and had to explore new means of expression. The palette knife opened up a world of three-dimensional possibilities for me. Recently, I’ve found essential oils that allow me to use the brush again, but this unique technique remains an integral part of my artistic voice, providing me with a distinctive way to convey emotions and empowerment in each piece.
Interviewer: Very interesting. And speaking of empowerment, we’ve noticed a strong feminine identity reflected in your works. What message do you hope to convey through these depictions?
Elena Gual: I aim to give visibility to female voices and experiences that often go overlooked. My art celebrates diversity and the power of women, challenging norms and giving voice to those who have been silenced.
Interviewer: Fascinating. “Metamorfosis” sounds intriguing. Can you give us a sneak peek of the transformations we can expect from this exhibition?
Elena Gual: “Metamorfosis” is a reflection of my own artistic and personal evolution. It will showcase everything from my “People of Madrid” series to my latest creations, all of which explore the transformation of identity and the human experience.
Interviewer: Exciting! Speaking of Madrid, what does it mean to you to have your first solo exhibition in Spain, and how does it influence your work?
Elena Gual: It’s an honor to present this body of work in my home country, Spain. My connection with the rich color palette of Mallorca has deeply influenced my art. The earthy tones, characteristic landscapes, and vibrant energy of the island have seeped into my works. Sharing my art in Madrid, surrounded by the inspiration that my beloved Mallorca has provided me, is a dream come true.
Interviewer: It’s definitely a milestone. For those looking to see your physical exhibition in Madrid, what can they expect from the experience?
Elena Gual: Visitors will immerse themselves in a world of colors, textures, and emotions. Each piece is a portal to the exploration of femininity, diversity, and empowerment. I hope they feel inspired and moved.
Interviewer: Sounds amazing. One last question: what message would you like to convey to those who come to see “Metamorfosis”?
Elena Gual: I want them to feel the transformation in every brushstroke, to see in my works the potential for change and empowerment that resides within each of us. My art is a reminder that we all have the potential to evolve.
Interviewer: Thank you, Elena, for sharing your vision and passion with us. We’re eager to see everything you’re preparing!
Elena Gual: Thank you! I hope you have the opportunity to see the exhibition and enjoy it.
